This year for St. Patricks Day ... we had a special dinner and family gathering at Grandma & Grandpas the night before and for breakfast the boys had some green milk. Just a little something to make the day special. Here's the link to last years fun St Patricks Day 2010. ~Michaela
Actually, this is a Fox Island newborn (10 days old)! I photographed the maternity session here in Olympia and drove to their new home on Fox Island for the newborn session. I love photographing babies in their own homes in a very natural way. The first few months of your babies life sometimes feels like such a blur... sleepless nights, feedings... just simply adjusting to this new little family member can be so over whelming. It's a time that passes by so quickly and you don't want to forget a minute of it! I love to photograph the moments you have together and photograph the baby the way you will want to remember him/her. One of my favorite things to do is find out what makes your baby unique... that cute little cowlick, a sweet little birth mark... and like this little guy... a heart shaped tongue... how cute is that! Baby Q is such a beautiful baby and I love all of his dark hair! ~Michaela
Goodness it's been a while... I've resigned myself to the fact that I'm not much of a blogger or very social in the month of January. For me January is the time to find my center, to reflect on the previous year, be present in the now and by February I'm able to move forward and get excited about the new year.
Last year was an exciting year for me, I had so many great sessions and met so many new clients that always turn into friendships. Photography is a constant challenge for me and I love that... finding my style, what makes me unique... working on my skill and the technical aspects of photography... I feel fortunate to have found my passion and am able to do what I love for a living. Being a business owner is an entirely different challenge for me, I have such a new found respect for anyone that embarks on being self employed and being a small business owner.
Ed and I have been taking the boys on nature hikes all over Olympia... again... trying to find our center... needing some balance from the hustle and bustle of daily life. We start out the morning with a great breakfast. One of our morning favorites... ground sweet pork sausage from Johnson's Meats , 1/2 a dozen eggs, mix it up, scoop spoonfuls into pan and fry. Blueberry pancakes with a little homemade Jelly... I take frozen Spooner's Berry Farms strawberries from last summer and equal amounts sugar (I try to use less)... bring to a boil and pour into jam jar. Some of our favorite places to explore; Kennedy Creek Salmon Trail , McLane Creek Nature Trail and Mima Mounds Prairie. My tree for Christmas Forest 2010 is full of the sweetest baby items... "The Ultimage Gift to Welcome Baby"... beautiful hand knit baby sweaters, hats & booties... gorgeous handmade Photo tile ornaments from my friend Keri of Delaney Photo Tile Jewelry Design... the adorable Sophie giraffe a vintage reproduction french baby toy, purchased at a this local Olympia baby shop Simple Cloth... baby essentials; onsies, bottles and binkies... my vintage inspired baby bracelet, my signature gift to all of my newborn baby clients... a beautiful vintage bassinet... and sweet little bird nests resembling my brand & logo design. For me the bird nest represents my style of photography... natural lifestyle in the comfort of your home and the three blue eggs represent my 3 little boys. As my tree started coming together I thought that St. Peter Hospital Birthing Center would be the perfect place for it to be for the remainder of the Christmas Season, many of the images on the tree are of babies I have photographed at St. Peter Hospital Birthing Center! Imagine my surprise when I found out that my tree was purchased by a local couple and they donated the tree to the St. Peter Hospital Birthing Center! This was such a fun community event to be a part of and such a great way to start the Holiday season! ~Michaela
I have helped decorate trees for Christmas Forest ~ St. Peter Hospital Foundation off and on for almost 20 years... I designed my first tree 15 years ago while pregnant with my first baby. Now that my boys are older I decided to start designing again and have had such a fun time planning my tree all year. The theme for my tree is the "Ultimate baby gift", I found the most beautiful hand knit baby sweaters & booties and my friend Keri of Delaney Photo Tile Jewelry created gorgeous Christmas Ornament Photo Tiles using my newborn photography, most of the images are babies I have photographed at St. Peters Hospital! I'm also donating a year of baby photography and the most beautiful antique baby bassinet... it also includes some of my favorite baby essentials... glass baby bottles... long sleeve onsies with mittens... and my signature baby bracelet of the most popular baby names of 2010! I love how the tree turned out... I must admit I was so nervous... the trees are always so spectacular! So stop by the Red Lion Inn of Olympia to see all the beautiful trees! ~Michaela

The best part about what I do is getting to meet new families! When Tara contacted me about a family session she said that fall is her favorite season... she loves everything about it especially the beautiful fall colors. I thought Schilter's Farm would be a fun place to meet... I've never photographed anyone there and I love trying out new locations! It makes me so happy to be able to create memories for families through my imagery and getting to know Tara and her family is such a bonus... I really become so attached to all of the families I have the pleasure of photographing!
I love this sweet little family... and had such a hard time choosing from so many adorable images of them. I created 2 - 10x20 storyboards and 1 - 16x20 collage of Baby Jack's cute little faces. I just recently saw baby Jack and cannot believe how fast he's changed already in such a short time! Babies just grow too fast... this is such a special time in their lives and someday baby Jack will have these images to look back on and see how much he was loved an adored! ~Michaela
